Exam FCSS_EFW_AD-7.6 Topic 4 Question 52 Discussion

Actual exam question for Fortinet's FCSS_EFW_AD-7.6 exam
Question #: 52
Topic #: 4
You need an internal segmentation firewall (ISFW) FortiGate for a campus with an ultralow latency interface. Which FortiGate should you select?

Suggested Answer: D Vote an answer

The SP5 (Security Processing Unit 5) provides ultralow-latency hardware acceleration designed specifically for internal segmentation firewalls and east-west traffic inspection. A FortiGate model with ports connected to an SP5 delivers the required microsecond-level latency performance.

None of these are really satisfactory answers. X5 to X8 are often the designated ultra-low latency interfaces, but that is not guaranteed. CP10 allows fast flow-based IPS, useful for an ISFW not but ulotra-low latency. NP6 is an older NPU, but not ideal for ultra-low latency. SP5 is found only in lower-end Fortigates which are not well suited for the ISFW role according to SE material/ordering guides. Best answer is D, but correct answer would be "FortiGate with one or more NP7"
