Trust is also a key factor for achieving compliance with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations, as well as meeting the organization's own information security objectives and policies.
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 defines information security as "preservation of confidentiality, integrity and availability of information" (see clause 3.28) and states that "the purpose of an information security management system is to provide a framework for managing activities that influence the trustworthiness of information" (see Introduction).
